WEEK 5/104: Obedience Brings Blessings

Hey everyone!!

So this week was well... it had its ups and downs, I guess you could say. It started off alright but then all our investigators just started losing interest. My companion and I decided we should just set aside an entire day and just try finding. Well that went somewhat well, we found like 7 or so people, and so we planned to see all those people a couple days later.

Sooo its Friday now and we are going to go see all these people, but nothing really works out and its about 4pm. We were physically, emotionally, and definitely spiritually spent so we decided to go visit a member and just rest for a bit. This member is loaded! Like I'm not kidding, she is loaded and she always buys us bread and soda whenever we come by. So we ate our stuff, rested and entertained her kids for a little, and then we decided to just head back to the chapel, and try to call members and just teach members for the rest of the day. To be honest we were just so spiritually upset we were just done for the day and I was feeling really down.

Most missionaries here will just go home really early when they have a day like ours but we decided to be obedient and just do our best for the rest of the day, and still be the missionaries we were called to be. Well let me tell you, obedience bring blessings!! As we were walking, like bam, bam bam!!! all these people in a row called us over.  Just one right after the other. We didn't even have to call them to us or anything. Sooo we taught them all! One even has a baptism date!! So we ended the day off well and I was soooo thankful. I know that Heavenly Father is willing to bless those who are obedient to his commandments. He is also very mindful of us. When my spiritual gas tank was barely running on fumes, He filled it right back up. In fact by the end of the day, it was overflowing!!

It is Saturday now. We went to visit my favorite investigator Antwi.  He is really awesome but he isn't serious.  The missionaries have been teaching him for 7 weeks with no improvement. We invited him to come to church and we also let him know that if he doesn't come this week we are going to have to stop teaching him. He was so positive and was sure he would come. After him we had 6 other investigators saying they would come as well. It's Sunday now and 0 investigators came to church..... ughh oh well. Soo yes it has been a harder week, however I know this week will be better as we strive to be obedient!

My companion and I decided that we are going to do our best this week to really serve the members. We want to grow friendships with them and hopefully they will help us out.  Up to now we have had about zero help from the members soo it has been making things a little harder. Soo remember that all you back home. HELP the missionaries!!  The church is true!! Remember whenever life gets tough, just humble yourself and get on your knees, it works every time!!

Other things we learned from Tanner's letters to us:

He has two other missionaries in his apartment; one from Nigeria and one from Tonga

He made pancakes the other day!  He eats a lot of yams, fried rice, eggs (which he wouldn't eat at home!), bread and chocolate every night :)

My clothes are great, although I marked one shirt with the iron...oopps. But I still have plenty more. The pants are awesome and I love them so thank you. I only ever wear the sandals because thats all they wear here, however mine kinda suck.  Like they are really nice but they are already breaking!!  My companion has had his same ones for almost two years and they are fine!  There is like no way you can survive wearing dress shoes walking on these roads and paths, your feet will die!

This is one of the nicer area but yes it is poor. Mom its Africa, everyone is poor haha!! Except we did go into a home this week, and the outside didn't look that nice but the inside was, wow! that could pass for a nice inside for even the US!

I don't know if there is farming, but there are a lot of animals. There are people growing weed though. Ummm they are kinda nice but likeI said it's just a harder area. We are like in the middle of a city and this is like a huge sales place so most people are just busy and don't have time to talk really.

I do have vitamins.

Most people speak Twi with little english. Usually the older people don't speak English well but the younger like 30 years and down usually can speak English well.

Yes there is a really nice mall with tons of American food but I can't afford any of it because American food is very expensive.
