WEEK 9/104: Trocho

With Tyson coming home this week, I got a little behind sending out Tanner's letter.  This was his letter from last week.  I'll be getting his letter from this week in just a few hours. Sorry! :)


This week was great!!  We had 8 investigators at church which was just crazy!! One we found while getting fried rice, which made me learn we need to be a missionary always and not just when we feel like it! So remember that all you people back home getting ready to serve! 

Okay so one funny story, but before I begin I need to explain what a trocho is. It is like a smallish bus that is very cheap to ride in but only drives through certain areas. Two people work it. A driver and mate. The mate calls out the city they will pass through while sticking his hand out the window. if you stick your hand out it means you want a ride. Well my first day here I did not know any of that and I thought that guy was just waving, sooo I waved back. The mate slapped the top of the trocho, it stopped, and he opened up the door. I'm like oh, umm we aren't getting in sorry haha. He called me fool in Twi which is like the biggest insult here.  It's like the f word or flipping someone off in America. Oh and that's another thing, the f word is not a curse word here, like everyone says it, even in church giving a talk lol. Very strange. Anyways all is well, love you all!

Tanner's Farewell

Tanners farewell was lovely.  He really did do a nice job on his talk.  It was fun to catch a glimpse of his personality sprinkled throughout yet he was respectful as well.  He has truly grown so much this past year and I'm sure he will grow even more these next two.   I'm very grateful my family were able to come.  I think he would have felt bad if nobody was able to be here.  We stay for all three meetings so we really didn't have much of a celebration after....just the family had lunch together and then we said good-bye.  I still tried to decorate a bit so he would feel special. WEEK 7/104: Faith

(I told Tanner from his pictures it looks like he was sent to a country inhabited solely by children!) Hey everyone!! So this week was very successful, well until the end but hey I will take it. We found 4 new investigators and received 1 referral. Three of the 4 investigators we found all in one place together and we have taught them twice throughout the week. And wow, they are powerful... they have really been prepared to learn about and receive the gospel.They ask so many questions and are just so ready to learn the truth. They go to a church but realize the things going on in that church are not right, so when we extended the invitation to come to our church they were not ready. They told us they have already made a poor choice once so they want to be sure before they decided again. MERRY CHRISTMAS (12-23-19)

Hello Friends,  Afishapa!! That translates into Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have been listening to Christmas music a lot and I especially love the song that reads, "its the most wonderful time, of the year."... This is definitely a true and accurate statement, and as I reflected on why this is my thought lead me back to my Savior.  Christmas is about Christ, and it pains me when I see His name replaced with an X. If you have fallen given into this disrespectful temptation by placing this on social media posts, or text messages, or even posters, then I would invite you to quickly repent and put Christ back into your Christmas and lives.  That is not the only way we take Christ out of Christmas however.
