WEEK 14: Changes Coming

Image
Hey Everyone!!  Fair warning this week will be a short email, but I just wanted to say I'm doing great!! (His trainer was leaving to go home so Tanner will be with two other missionaries until he gets his new companion.). I hope you all can picture what Africa is like now! I'im getting a new companion on Wednesday so I will surely tell you all about him!  As for my area, it's doing great and this week we had another person tell us they are ready for baptism! Her name is Akoto and she is stubborn. Whenever we asked about baptism she would say she just isn't ready yet, then out of nowhere she told us she wants to be baptized. Sooo yeah!!!  Anyways all is well! Love yah all He doesn't send explanations about his pictures but it looks like these pictures are: of him making Fufu, with a group he was playing football (i.e. soccer) with on p-day I'm thinking--notice the boy has one sock on and one bare...

WEEK 13: This is Ghana

Image
Hello friends! So I realized thatI haven't said much about what Africa is like so let me give you all a taste of Ghana, the bitter and the sweet. HAHAHA. So let me start from what you will notice right away. The weather. It is hot and very very humid! Like I'm serious. If you are not comfortable with constant back and pit sweat then Ghana is not the place for you! haha.  After I noticed the temperature I was taken to our 5 start apartment. Every room comes with its own complimentary rat and your favorite assortment of bugs(spiders, cockroaches, little flies, big flies, mosquitoes, maggots, ants, etc..). You wake up every morning to find at least five new mosquito bites every day that itch like crazy, and then when you go to the kitchen you find that cockroaches are kissing the food you forgot to completely cover up the night before.  You have to take a Doxy pill every morning or you WILL get malaria. Power goes out like three times a day at random times but it see...

WEEK 12: Faith

Image
Hello friends! This week was great! During my personal study I was able to lean more about faith and how it is different than knowing. I learned this when reading about the brother of Jared who saw the finger of Christ and later even saw the Savior completely.  The brother of Jared was a very faithful man, in fact so much so that the Lord even said no man before him has had such exceedingly great faith. Sooo that must mean he never had doubts right? Wrong! Faith is not having perfect knowledge because if you have that then you have no need for faith. Faith is not knowing compleatly but believing in or even hoping for something that you can't see but is true. The brother ofJared had faith, even more than any man before him however he still did have doubts. We find evidence of this in Ether chapter 3 verse 19. This says after he saw the finger of Christ " he had faith no longer, for he knew, nothing doubting". This vers...

WEEK 11:Introducing Peter

HEY FRIENDS! This week was overall pretty good! We finally received an awesome referral from a cool member. He asked us to teach a kid who stays with him. His name is Yeboah and he is 16. most kids his age speak English because they teach it at school but not Yeboah because he lives in a small village sooo he only speaks Twi. He is Golden though!  He will be getting baptized  August 18th  and is very excited. We bring a member named Clinton to help translate. Clinton is awesome and comes with us often. He is preparing for a mission and he will be very successful. Anyways what made this week so great was Yeboah, I was able to eat a ton of food, but the best part was I gave my first blessing to someone who really needed it. It was awesome and the spirit was strong! We also have a new investigator Peter who came to church on his own this week. He said he was a Roman Catholic for 10 years but decided he needed to stop and worship at our church. I'm like uhhh okay thats a...
