WEEK 41: Being Humble

Hello friends!

Well I must ask for you all to forgive me last week for not sending out a group email.

Let me start off by saying I miss all of you, so don't be a stranger and FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME! in fact if you are reading this maybe when you finish you could send a quick update on your life, whoever and wherever you are. I love all of you and I want to hear about you lives.

Okay so an update for me. well I'm doing well, and I can not complain! I have received news on more people I have previously taught being baptized which of course makes me so happy. I have been blessed to recently meet a new family and we have been teaching them, and all of them are very receptive and ready to learn. I was able to have two investigators at church today and I'm so thrilled about that.

This week I also had zone conference. One message that stood out to me was given by our AP Elder Garrett. It was on the power of the Atonement and repentance. This really touched my heart and I felt a greater desire to humble myself and turn to Christ. I desired to let go of lingering sins, even small ones that seem almost insignificant. As I listened to his message the spirit softened my heart and I was able to let go of pride, and be more submissive to the will of God. I was able to see thing with a new perspective. I will share best i can what Elder Garrett shared and I hope you all are able to appreciate it as much as I did.

He starts off with a story from his past. He talks of a hike he and his father went on. He describes it as one of the most beautiful hikes he has ever seen. This hike also required them to carry equipment and supplies in a backpack which added weight making things a little more difficult. The hike continues and he hears his father start to breathe more heavily, but he dismissed it as something normal. The hike starts to come closer to the end and his father stops him. He says son, I'm embarrassed to ask but can you please help me and take some of my load. My knees are very week and this added stress is making things much more difficult to handle. Elder Garrett quickly helped his dad, and they were able to enjoy the rest of the hike.

Later Elder Garrett started to feel bad as he realized his father probably didn't get to enjoy the beauty around him due to the concern of his knee controlling his thoughts. It wasn't until the hike was almost over that he was able to humble himself, ask for help  and get the load off of his back that was weighing him down.
He related this hike to life. life is a beautiful thing that can be a joy and a delight to experience. However sometimes sin creeps in and starts to weigh us down. When we have sin we can not have peace. We can not fully enjoy the beauty that life has to offer. In fact what is suppose to be a wonderful experience can quickly turn into a miserable journey. We might even be looking forward to the end to come just so that it can all be over. Our mind will be controlled by the guilt of our sins. It doesn't have to be this way. The truth is we will all sin. Somewhere along the path we will take a wrong turn, or even stumble and fall. However our heavy burdens that will be placed on our shoulders don't have to stay for long.

Going back to the story Elder Garrett was more than capable of carrying the load. He was fit and strong enough to relieve his father's burden. Just like Elder Garrett was along side his father, Jesus Christ is always along side of us. He is the only one capable of carrying our sins and lifting those burdens. When we feel the weight of sin and we want to get rid of it, all we have to do is ask. Don't wait until the journey is almost over. Life is to be enjoyed. Don't be a slave to your sins, but let them go and open you eyes to the beauty all around. Soooo if you have made a mistake its okay. We all do, but what's not okay is letting it stay. Take care of it today, and I promise you that when you do peace will fill your lives and you will be no more overcome with guilt. Life will become a delight!

Love ya,
Elder Pace
