WEEK 57: No Email

From his call I know he is a Zone Leader serving with an Elder Brown who is from Accra in Ghana.  He said it's like they are the same person.  They get along great and Tanner is really enjoying him.  Their WARD (not Branch) is organized and functioning like a regular ward and they even have a pianist.  There were 80 people there at the start of their meeting on Sunday (he counted)!  They were there in their seats and listening to the prelude music.  The bishop joined the church when he was 11 and served a mission.  His wife is a child of record so they both have church experience and it shows.  Tanner said they are both solid in the church and they read scriptures together in their home and they have Family Home Evening every week.  He said you can feel it in their home.  He said there are several wealthy members of the ward yet the area is not overly wealthy.  The members are great at giving them referrals and food.  Tanner has a missionary from Scotland and an American Tongan missionary in his apartment.  They went to the mall on Monday and he quite enjoyed himself.  They purchased ice cream and several pieces of cake (because they all looked good) and then they decided they needed something savory so purchased chicken and several other items.  Tanner has missed the mall.  He and the Tongan missionary do enjoy working out in the mornings together.  He said he is going to need it in this area!  He sounded happy and loving life.  He said there is no way he would be ready to come home yet.  He should stay in this area for at least another transfer, most likely two.
