Tanner's Mission Experiences

Pictures:  He looks wet in this picture?  The bottom is a picture of cockroaches on the floor after they sprayed the kitchen.  He said it's "only a small portion of them...there were like hundreds"...he did clarify that he still won't go near a spider, he makes his companions kill them! Hey friends! Life is seriously sweet in Africa.  Like wow. Time is flying by like crazy!  My companion is super cool, and we enjoy going to the gym together in the mornings. I have discovered that I'm very weak. ha! But that's okay.   When I first got to this area almost 4 months ago we received no FM (I asked for a translation and this means "free meal"). Now I receive like at least one a day. Which is cool cuz that means they like us buuuut the food is... (he says he has now eaten snail, soup with fish heads, fish eyes, lots of chicken...Tanner wouldn't even eat chicken or even anything with cream of chicken soup in it before his missi...

Pictures:   I am shocked that Tanner picked up this little creature because he was not a fan of the creepy crawlies and would not even kill a small spider before he left.  He is going to be a new man after this experience!  They must have gone on a hike for a zone activity today and we get a shot at the view.  And, of course, it's not complete without a picture of a cute little kiddo!   Missionary work is sweet! Now don't get me wrong, it's not easy. At all!  However, one thing I have learned is when you work hard, you are much happier. For those of you going on a mission, don't just try to meet the mission standard on the hours and so forth, but exceed it. Set your goal for higher, and then get higher than your goal. Too many missionaries set a goal with the mindseat of, if I come close then its okay. It's not. When you meet your goal it's okay. When you exceed your goal then you're a champ! And you will...

Hey Everyone!!  Fair warning this week will be a short email, but I just wanted to say I'm doing great!! (His trainer was leaving to go home so Tanner will be with two other missionaries until he gets his new companion.). I hope you all can picture what Africa is like now! I'im getting a new companion on Wednesday so I will surely tell you all about him!  As for my area, it's doing great and this week we had another person tell us they are ready for baptism! Her name is Akoto and she is stubborn. Whenever we asked about baptism she would say she just isn't ready yet, then out of nowhere she told us she wants to be baptized. Sooo yeah!!!  Anyways all is well! Hello friends! So I realized thatI haven't said much about what Africa is like so let me give you all a taste of Ghana, the bitter and the sweet. HAHAHA. So let me start from what you will notice right away. The weather. It is hot and very very humid! Like I'm serious. If you are not comfortable with constant back and pit sweat then Ghana is not the place for you! haha.  After I noticed the temperature I was taken to our 5 start apartment. Every room comes with its own complimentary rat and your favorite assortment of bugs(spiders,cockroaches, little flies, big flies, mosquitoes, maggots, ants, etc..). You wake up every morning to find at least five new mosquito bites every day that itch like crazy, and then when you go to the kitchen you find that cockroaches are kissing the food you forgot to completely cover up the night before.  You have to take a Doxy pill every morning or you WILL get malaria. Power goes out like three times a day at random times but it see...
