WEEK 23: Mission Tour
I didn't even ask! |
This week was pretty good. Okay actually it was great! First off, we had mission tour. Elder Nash (Tanner didn't realize but Elder Nash was our stake president when we lived in Washington! Tanner wasn't born yet and Elder Nash wouldn't remember us but we remember him!) from the 70 came and talked to us for like 4 hours. Seriously incredible! I learned so much and felt the spirit so strong.
For the zone tour we had to leave very early so I knew those in my apartment wouldn't have time to make breakfast. so I woke up at 4:30 and made 6 hungry boys a ton of pancakes and 24 eggs... btw I make the best pancakes; chocolate, bananas cinnamon pancakes to be exact! In fact every day this week I had pancakes for breakfast. Sometimes for lunch and dinner too haha.
This week I had the opportunity to study about the Savior. I seriously enjoyed reading about his life and all he went through. It helps me feel more fully the love he has for all of us.
This week I was able to contact a new person who is struggling with alcohol. We were able to teach him, help him feel the spirit, and make special promises to him. I know he felt the spirit and we invited him to church. To be honest, I did not think he would come but Sunday came and he and his entire family came. I was like, wow! I'm excited to see him progress. We will meet with him tomorrow.
Throughout my mission so far I have really gained a strong testimony of the converting power of the Book of Mormon. I have had experience after experience where nothing gets through to an investigator until they read this additional testament of Jesus Christ. In fact this book, the Book of Mormon is how even I gained a testimony that carried me to serve a mission. If you haven't read it before, read it. Pray about it, and love it. You will receive an answer if you study, ponder and pray while having a sincere heart and real intent.
Anways love you all! Until next week!
Elder Pace
Extra Notes:
Two of his suitcases got infested with ants and spiders so he said he had to take it out and fumigate it and completely wash it out.
He loves his Tongan companion but he says you have to drag him to everything and he moves extremely SLOWLY so that has been a bit of a challenge. When Tanner arrived in the area they had only one investigator and he got baptized so Tanner is trying to build the teaching pool back up.
He has ordered a custom picture of the Accra temple with the African sunset behind and African animals in front. He is excited to get that back. It also looks like he has acquired a few new African ties so he may come home with a few souvenirs.
He met another American missionary, an Elder Johnston, during the mission tour who he really liked. He is also planning on going to UVU after the mission so they may be able to connect back up. (pictured with Tanner in the long sleeves)
From the looks of the houses in these pictures I'd say he is in a wealthier area than his first area?
