WEEK 45: Elder Lephoyo!
Previous mission companion and flat mates
Previous companion with the kids investigating. So impressive they get themselves ready and to church on their own!
The missionary reading a book with the children is his new companion, Elder Lephoyo.
Hey everyone!
Well this week was awesome actually! So to start this week off I received a new companion, his name is Elder Lephoyo. He is the coolest, but the best part is he is exactly obedient. Such a good example to me and it's motivating me to be better.
This Sunday the kids came to church again. They are multiplying!
I also had the opportunity to hear my branch president and his wife's conversion story! Its crazy! Its long so I won't type it out but I will tell my parents so if you're curious I'm sure they would love to pass it along.
My area is really moving along and I can see success everyday. Everyday I come home exhausted but I feel uplifted and spiritually strengthened. My companion gives me motivational quotes and advice everyday and I just love it. He is so Christlike and I'm going to really enjoy serving with him but I will miss him when the transfer comes.
Anyways for this week thats about all I have, but I love you all! Until next week!

Mom's notes: We are so thankful for Elder Lephoyo. Tanner has absolutely loved having a mission companion who wants to do the work and is so obedient. He has a few special needs but as Tanner says "He is so full of Spirit". He elevates all around him. I asked about the motivational quotes he tells Tanner and some of them are well-known quotes like "Forget yourself and go to work", but some are his own thoughts and observations like the reason why he has so much energy is because he drinks so much water or how many missionaries look forward to the end of their day and that just results in a long (or hard?) day. He has found that when he looks forward to the people they will talk to throughout the day, the day goes much better. Tanner says he is very smart and knowledgeable about the gospel. Tanner has enjoyed learning from him.
Elder Lephoyo arrived last Thursday night. The next day they went to go bike riding to their appointments and Tanner discovers Elder Lephoyo did not know how to ride a bike. He said nobody would teach him. So, Tanner and Elder Lephoyo spent last Monday learning how to ride a bike in between appointments. Tanner said it was a little scary, especially on the street and he realized they need to slow it down a bit but Elder Lephoyo said it was a day he was going to write about in his journal! We got to talk with Tanner on his birthday (April 6) and he said the bike lessons were going fairly well and Elder Lephoyo has only hit one person! :)
Last week when they were setting goals, Elder Lephoyo felt they should have the goal of giving out 8 Books of Mormon. He asked Tanner how many he could carry in his bag--2. He could carry 3 so he asked Tanner since he was more experienced on the bike to take a separate bag with the remaining 3. Tanner said he was not sure about this goal but they handed out all 8 and had to return the next day with one since they ran out! They taught seven lessons in one day which was a record for both of them.
I have loved hearing about Elder Lephoyo and his example.
