WEEK 57: No Email

From his call I know he is a Zone Leader serving with an Elder Brown who is from Accra in Ghana.  He said it's like they are the same person.  They get along great and Tanner is really enjoying him.  Their WARD (not Branch) is organized and functioning like a regular ward and they even have a pianist.  There were 80 people there at the start of their meeting on Sunday (he counted)!  They were there in their seats and listening to the prelude music.  The bishop joined the church when he was 11 and served a mission.  His wife is a child of record so they both have church experience and it shows.  Tanner said they are both solid in the church and they read scriptures together in their home and they have Family Home Evening every week.  He said you can feel it in their home.  He said there are several wealthy members of the ward yet the area is not overly wealthy.  The members are great at giving them referrals and food.  Tanner ha...

WEEK 56: Bitter/Sweet

Hello my dear friends, Well this week was bitter sweet to be completely honest. This week was my last week in BolgaTanga and this new week I will go to my new area. Soooo to start off with the bitter. Well let me tell you, it's not easy to leave an area. Especially for me.  I get just so darn attached to these people. They somehow always find a way to squeeze right into my heart and then when I have to leave I'm not going to lie, it pains a little. And I'm a big softy, I hate to admit that but its the truth. I was doing so good saying goodbye to everyone until I got to the kids... When I saw some of their sad faces and teary eyes when they got the news I couldn't hold it back. haha I did well to hide it though.  When the water came, I just pretended to yawn and used that as an excuse haha! But man I'm going to miss them all so much. The worst part is Bolga is so far that I will not be able to go back there for the duration of my mission... Now lets go...

WEEK 55: Farewell Bolga

Well this week will be my last in Bolgatanga, and I must admit I'm going to miss this place. At least with leaving a Kumasi area, there is a good chance you will serve near it again, but Bolga is just so far that that is not even a possibility. I do feel like I left the area better than  I found it though so I don't feel guilty or regretful leaving. This week wasn't too exciting, however it did end with a baptism and confirmation so that just beats all.  In this area probably over half of my baptisms have been children which i just love them so much. I found it to be very effective to buy them the Book of Mormon stories story book so that they can look at the pictures and read the stories with simple English. Anyways I will let you all know my new area and my new companion asap. Actually I won't know next Monday because I won't find out until Wednesday of that week but yeah..  haha anyways love you all! Quote of the day:  "Give a man a fish, fee...

WEEK 54: Nothing

WEEK 53: "Yeah that's right, I manhandled a croc in crocs"

This week was pretty awesome! So to start off the week on Monday I traveled down to Tamale to meet the zone and watch the Greatest Showman (Africa seems to be a bit more relaxed than some missions)!  Then on the following day we had zone conference which was awesome as always! The new mission assistant who I came to the field with, gave an awesome instruction on charity!  I was impressed.  The next day the zone leaders came up with us to have an exchange which was awesome and I loved the feed back and advice on how to improve.  Then on Saturday SISTER KATE AND HER DAUGHTER WERE BAPTISED. FINALLY! I have been just waiting for them to be baptised and it finally came.  Sunday they were confirmed and I'm just so happy for them. Today I went to sit on a crocodile. Yes, thats right, I manhandled a croc in crocs! hahaha Elder Pace (NOTE:  As his mom I was not impressed!  He was talking to us...

WEEK 52: The example of children!

This week was awesome!! What made it better is it ended with a baptism and confirmation. So to start off the week we ended up meeting and teaching some really cool people that I can see have a lot a of potential. Later in the week a smile was brought to my face when I visited two sisters age 12 and 13 who were just baptized. We asked them how their Book of Mormon reading was going and they said they read it together everyday. HOW INCREDIBLE!. What made it better is 12 year old Olivia is so excited about the Book of Mormon that she shared it with her school teacher that said one day she will follow her and visit the church. We love these children so much, the have such pure hearts. Me and Elder Lephoyo ordered like 12 copies of the Book of  Mormon stories, story book to give to all of them. Next week Sister Kate and her daughter will be baptized. Her brothers who were strong drinkers are trying to stop due to her positive influence and they even have been coming to church. T...
