WEEK 10: Difficult Times

Image
Pictures:  He and his companion, Elder Johnson, spent extra money on American food this week.  A Book of Mormon in Tui language. A 12 year old boy.  Tanner is on his 3rd watch....dropped one and broke one play fighting with a boy.  The fruit is less than $1.00 in American money.  Some different food he made this week.  He eats about 8 eggs a day.  The activity they did that didn't receive much member support. This week was very discouraging. Almost all of our 8 people who showed for church last week, now have no interest.  Our best investigator can't be baptized  Saturday  because she didn't show for church, and our members are doing nothing to help the missionaries or the ward as usual. A member of our stake presidency had to come down and chastise the members and said they were once a great ward that can no longer be called great.  We did an activity to help enlarge our teachin...

WEEK 9/104: Trocho

With Tyson coming home this week, I got a little behind sending out Tanner's letter.  This was his letter from last week.  I'll be getting his letter from this week in just a few hours. Sorry! :) This week was great!!  We had 8 investigators at church which was just crazy!! One we found while getting fried rice, which made me learn we need to be a missionary always and not just when we feel like it! So remember that all you people back home getting ready to serve!  Okay so one funny story, but before I begin I need to explain what a trocho is. It is like a smallish bus that is very cheap to ride in but only drives through certain areas. Two people work it. A driver and mate. The mate calls out the city they will pass through while sticking his hand out the window. if you stick your hand out it means you want a ride. Well my first day here I did not know any of that and I thought that guy was just waving, sooo I waved back. The mate slapped the top of the t...

WEEK 8/104: The Apartment

Image
Hey Everyone! This week had its ups and downs as they always do, but us missionaries will take it like that! ha! Really though, missionary work is sweet. My favorite part is making friendships with those we teach. It really helps me love them and not just see them as statistics or numbers.  This week I went on exchange with the district leader, and when I got home Elder Johnson told me everyone was asking where I was and said they missed me and seemed really concerned on if I would be able to come back or not, haha! It feels good to be able to make fast friendships with all of them!  We really had several people open up to us this week and it is great!.  I also got to meet my knew mission president and he is sweet! His name is President Webster and he is literally the best.  I'm glad I get to have him for the rest of my mission!  That is all for this week, love you all! Elder Pace I didn't ...

This was posted today from a conference.  Tanners new mission President and wife have officially started!  Tanner looks great.  It will be fun to see what he had to say about meeting them for the first time.

FAVORITE PHOTO

This is one of the first pictures we got from the field.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture.  The children are beautiful and Tanner looks so handsome and happy.  I think these two children show up in other photos so they must be members or people they are teaching?

WEEK 7/104: Faith

Image
(I told Tanner from his pictures it looks like he was sent to a country inhabited solely by children!) Hey everyone!! So this week was very successful, well until the end but hey I will take it. We found 4 new investigators and received 1 referral. Three of the 4 investigators we found all in one place together and we have taught them twice throughout the week. And wow, they are powerful... they have really been prepared to learn about and receive the gospel. They ask so many questions and are just so ready to learn the truth. They go to a church but realize the things going on in that church are not right, so when we extended the invitation to come to our church they were not ready. They told us they have already made a poor choice once so they want to be sure before they decided again. The next time we meet Elder Johnson and I will share some scriptures with them that I came across during personal studies. It is found in Alma 32:21-33, 33:23. These s...
