WEEK 8/104: The Apartment


















Hey Everyone!

This week had its ups and downs as they always do, but us missionaries will take it like that! ha! Really though, missionary work is sweet. My favorite part is making friendships with those we teach. It really helps me love them and not just see them as statistics or numbers. 

This week I went on exchange with the district leader, and when I got home Elder Johnson told me everyone was asking where I was and said they missed me and seemed really concerned on if I would be able to come back or not, haha! It feels good to be able to make fast friendships with all of them!  We really had several people open up to us this week and it is great!. 

I also got to meet my knew mission president and he is sweet! His name is President Webster and he is literally the best.  I'm glad I get to have him for the rest of my mission!  That is all for this week, love you all!

Elder Pace

I didn't get much extra this week.  The internet was giving them grief and his companion wasn't even able to email so his time was more limited than normal.  He did tell me he has really missed a few things and he wants me to start the planning process so we can do them when he returns.  With the Pace side of the family he wants the whole extended Pace family to go to Lagoon on the 4th of July (including Tyson's girl friend or wife :). With the Merrill side of the family he wants us to do another Bear Lake type thing with EVERYONE participating in the talent show!  :)  Tanner is not my sentimental child so this was a fun surprise that family and family traditions do matter to him!  

I had asked him last week to send pictures of his apartment and surrounding area.  He sent us a photo tour of his place and to be honest, it wasn't that bad!  (The shower doesn't look too fun though) I was expecting much worse.  He did tell his dad he bought a fan to blow on himself at night to keep the mosquitos at bay.  He found that to be easier and more effective than the mosquito netting. He sent a picture of fish and fufu in a soup (he said "lye" soup but I'm wondering if he meant "lime" soup" or something like that?) that he described as "very very gross".  But, he has found and purchased protein powder and Nutella so he's set!

Tanner's Farewell

Tanners farewell was lovely.  He really did do a nice job on his talk.  It was fun to catch a glimpse of his personality sprinkled throughout yet he was respectful as well.  He has truly grown so much this past year and I'm sure he will grow even more these next two.   I'm very grateful my family were able to come.  I think he would have felt bad if nobody was able to be here.  We stay for all three meetings so we really didn't have much of a celebration after....just the family had lunch together and then we said good-bye.  I still tried to decorate a bit so he would feel special. WEEK 7/104: Faith

(I told Tanner from his pictures it looks like he was sent to a country inhabited solely by children!) Hey everyone!! So this week was very successful, well until the end but hey I will take it. We found 4 new investigators and received 1 referral. Three of the 4 investigators we found all in one place together and we have taught them twice throughout the week. And wow, they are powerful... they have really been prepared to learn about and receive the gospel.They ask so many questions and are just so ready to learn the truth. They go to a church but realize the things going on in that church are not right, so when we extended the invitation to come to our church they were not ready. They told us they have already made a poor choice once so they want to be sure before they decided again. MERRY CHRISTMAS (12-23-19)

Hello Friends,  Afishapa!! That translates into Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have been listening to Christmas music a lot and I especially love the song that reads, "its the most wonderful time, of the year."... This is definitely a true and accurate statement, and as I reflected on why this is my thought lead me back to my Savior.  Christmas is about Christ, and it pains me when I see His name replaced with an X. If you have fallen given into this disrespectful temptation by placing this on social media posts, or text messages, or even posters, then I would invite you to quickly repent and put Christ back into your Christmas and lives.  That is not the only way we take Christ out of Christmas however.
